From bean to cup: students discover the art of roasting

 

On Wednesday 26 February, we had the pleasure of welcoming the fifth class of the Magnaghi Hotelier Institute of Salsomaggiore to our roasting plant. Accompanying them on this journey into the world of coffee was our Marketing and Foreign Sales Manager, Giorgia Picariello, who introduced the students to the art of roasting.

After an initial theoretical part dedicated to the origins of coffee, its varieties, bean harvesting techniques and our special wood roasting, the visit continued in the laboratory, the heart of the research and experimentation of blends and aromas. Here, the students were able to take a closer look at the different coffee beans, noting their variations in size, colour, origin and value.

Next, we moved to the production area, where the students witnessed the steps that transform green beans into a product of excellence, thanks to the expertise of our master roasters and the specialised machines that support the process.

The day ended in the most pleasant way possible: with a buffet that allowed us to share moments of conviviality and discussion.

We would like to thank the students and teachers of the Magnaghi Institute again for their visit, hoping that this experience has left them with not only new knowledge, but also the unmistakable aroma of freshly roasted coffee.
